Heather Baxter for Secretary of State has reserved the Whitewood Senior Center on Sunday Feb 15th, 1pm. You are invited to listen to her and understand the role of South Dakota's Secretary of State and why she is campaigning as the best fit for this position. The SoS has many functions. But the larger concern for many is elections. With the Trump administration barreling down on election reform amidst the stolen 2020 election, as a Republican candidate Heather will have a timely message for our South Dakota election process using ES&S voting computers. There will be Q&A following her presentation. Refreshments will be served.

The Republican Party Central Committees in Hughes County, Stanley County, and Lyman Counties and CENKOTA would like to invite you to their annual Lincoln Day Dinner, which is set for February 17,2026 to be held at the Ramkota in Pierre. As in most years, we will start the social at 5:30, with the event to start at 6:30.

Instead of hosting a single keynote speaker, we are inviting each announced Republican candidate for governor to present to the crowd. In addition, we will allow any candidate who has purchased a table or advertisement to introduce themselves from the floor (with a microphone).

Tickets for the event are $40 each or $320 for a table (8 seats). If you buy a table, you will receive a digital ad on our PowerPoint that will play during the event. You may also buy an advertisement for $150 and will receive two tickets.

The Bylaws Committee will be hosting a review session for members of the State Central Committee to ask questions about the submitted bylaws amendments.  Please join in if you have questions before we meet on Saturday to make the process on Saturday go more smoothly.

ABOUT | Presiding Officer Training-Robert's Rules of Order-Pierre, SD

Presiding Officer Training equips grassroots leaders with the procedural authority and confidence needed to run effective, orderly meetings under Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised. This course focuses on the real responsibilities of the chair—enforcing the rules fairly, managing debate, handling motions step by step, maintaining decorum, and protecting both majority rule and minority rights. Participants learn exactly what a presiding officer may and may not do, how to follow a proper agenda, how to rule on motions and amendments, and how to keep meetings on track even when tension or disorder arises.

Through structured instruction and practical scenarios, students move beyond theory and into application. The training concludes with hands-on practice in which participants rotate through key roles—Chair, Mover, Seconder, and Debater—while working through realistic grassroots motions. By the end of the course, attendees leave prepared to preside with clarity, neutrality, and authority, ensuring their organizations operate efficiently, professionally, and in full compliance with Robert’s Rules of Order.
