The Resolutions Committee is responsible for reviewing, refining, and recommending policy resolutions submitted by Republican members and organizations for consideration at the State Convention.
In practical terms, the committee:
-
Receives resolutions submitted by delegates, county parties, or recognized Republican groups prior to convention
-
Reviews each resolution for clarity, consistency with Republican principles, and alignment with the SDGOP Platform and bylaws
-
Consolidates similar resolutions or suggests amendments to improve wording and effectiveness
-
Determines which resolutions to recommend for consideration by the full convention
-
Presents committee-recommended resolutions to the delegates, along with explanations and rationale when needed
The committee does not adopt policy on its own. Its role is advisory and preparatory — ensuring that resolutions brought before the convention are clear, relevant, and ready for informed debate and final action by the delegates.
Ultimately, the full body of delegates retains the authority to adopt, amend, or reject any resolution presented.
